They will downvote you into oblivion if you say anything other than, \"Nothing will change, companies are still going to have huge teams working on half-profitable digital products. Please don't worry.\"\n\nTo be clear, I don't think all job opportunities are going to disappear. However, increased productivity combined with declining demand in the general economy will mean fewer professionals are needed to meet market demands. This will lead to leaner teams, fewer job openings, and fierce competition making it even harder for anyone below senior, staff, or lead levels.\n\nOutsourcing markets are suffering more than the countries that have more native tech companies.\n\nThe reason why is because usually the companies went to outsourcing markets looking for \"operators\", as cheap labour, while the more strategic and leadership positions stay in the home country.\n\nWith AI, the need of having \"operators\" reduced a lot.\n\n\n\n--- Top Comments ---\n\n\n[126 upvotes] > \"Nothing will change, companies are still going to have huge teams working on half-profitable digital products. I need some false hope, I've been too depressed thinking about the future\n\n[58 upvotes] I’m a tech worker and use AI daily, things are already changing. In the past for tasks that I might have written a script for I am now creating a whole tool around and doing it in less time than it would have taken me to script it. Anyone who thinks things are not changing or are not embracing AI will be left behind and pretty much everyone in my circles fully believe this. \n\n[58 upvotes] What is coming, has never happened in the history of our species.\n\nIt normal most are in denial IMO\n\n[44 upvotes] I think most workers are on denial of the impact the technology will have, they use the bubble argument or the 'AI will never be conscious' as a psychological defense mechanism to not face the possible reality that can (not necessarily will) arrive.\n\nThe thing is, the space can be in a bubble, the tech can never achieve consciousness, and still take millions of jobs, and even if it creates new ones, those will be in the countries that already have a lot of resources and companies with the tech, elsewhere there will be thousands upon thousands losing their employment.",
