I expect and hope for voluntary slowdowns to become commonplace until shared safety bars are established. And I believe that international coordination on future AI development needs to become a top priority for governments around the world.\nhttps://openai.com/index/an-alien-mind/\n\n\n\n--- Top Comments ---\n\n\n[131 upvotes] I don’t think any of us really understand the implications of ASI.. this is really scary.. it’s like saying aliens are 4 months away from getting to earth and that they r just at different intelligence level.. we don’t know what they r gonna do when they get to earth.. And all these billionaires keep saying that these aliens will treat cancer and will lead us to heaven on earth.. so we will keep chucking at our daily 9-5 jobs until they get here.. can anyone counter argue w my point above and help me sleep at night .. am I missing something ? \n\n[125 upvotes] Jakub is not a hype man and only says things he truly believes. He is absolutely brilliant and the person who actually makes things happen behind the scenes.\n\nIf he says it, we should all believe it.\n\n[79 upvotes] Hmm... Looks like we were right. ",
