Demis Hassabis warned that tech CEO's like Sam Altman had cheapened the AGI term and that one of them would be announcing they had AGI very soon.\n\nThere will be a serious backlash if these CEO's try to convince the public that they have AGI when they clearly do not.\n\n\n\n--- Top Comments ---\n\n\n[393 upvotes] Current AI is advancing math and science a ton now. If you don’t see it, it’s because you’re not looking for it. \n\nPeople playing in Blender show up on your algorithm. The mathematical and scientific advances don’t. \n\n[271 upvotes] That's ASI\n\n[86 upvotes] Bro you are an AGI yourself. Can you do any of that? \n\nAlso personal opinion from working in applying AI to math, it's more that humans are the bottleneck to this new thing than AIs. We're dumb and takes a lot of time to understand what they're created, and do not have the necessary, mature institutions to integrate AI-developed math and science and such. So I'd say that current AI achivements in math, science, etc. are *massive* lowballs compared to real capabilities when the potential is fully realized. ",
