  "transcript": "Hi, welcome back in a Power BI course in\nthis session we are going to discuss the\nconcept of the sparklines. But before\nproceeding about the what is a\nsparklines and how we can use in Power\nBI, let me remind you all the related\nselected videos is available on my\nYouTube channel. You just go to the\nYouTube, search me on the Fathers and\nCS, come to the playlist. There are a\nlot of the videos are there, more than\n1200 uh dedicated from with respect to\nthe playlist are there. You can watch\nit. Whereas if you want to download the\nmaterial related to the dedicated\nvideos, you just visit my Fathers and CS\nblogspot.com.\nSo, what are you waiting for? Do\nsubscribe the channel to get familiar\nabout that what is going on in the field\nof the technology.\nOkay. Uh before proceeding about the\nPower BI in the sparklines, I just show\nyou this example of the sparkline from\nthe Excel first. So, I just open the\nExcel here.\nUh I have a two major columns, countries\nname from United States to Brazil. And\nthis is a revenues uh in the USD billion\nsums. Okay? And after that, the third\ncolumn I just write a sparklines\nheading.\nSo, a sparklines actually a tiny\nvisualization graph in a form of the\ncolumn or the line chart that represent\nthe\ntrend in the series of the values. For\nexample, what are the trend in this\nseries of the value? I want to represent\nin a cell base graph. Okay?\nSo, I just\ngo to the insert option where the graphs\npresent the charts. Just after the\nchart, there is a sparklines option. If\nI zoom it to show you, there it is.\nOkay? And I want to apply the line\noption. So, I just click on the line\noption. And now\ndata range. My data range is 25,000 to\n2,000. I select and click okay. So, in\nthis region you can see that the trend.\nIf I just change the value, the trend\nvalue will also change. So, I just click\nand drag. So, this all trending lines is\navailable here. And after that, I just\nchanging the random values like 38,000\nhere. Okay? Similarly, 29,000 here.\nYou can see that when changing the\nvalue,\nthe trend line is completely changed.\nOkay? That represent that the how the\npattern of the data is look like. Even\nthis data are available in a column\nwise. If this data are available in the\nrow wise, you can also represent it.\nLook at here. There is a data. The same\ndata I just\nwrite here in a form of the complete\nrow. I just come here.\nClick on the insert.\nLine.\nSelect the series of the values.\nAnd after that,\nI just click okay. The trend line is\nthere. I just change the value.\nAnd the trend is also changing, huh?\nLike this.\nSo, this is the definition with respect\nto the proper example in Excel. Okay?\nHow I can do the same thing?\nSo, if I just open the Power BI, the\nfinancial data, the sample data I used\nhere.\nAnd I just open this some column of the\nvalues from the financial data in a\nmatrix. I just open a matrix here.\nThis is a matrix in a visualization.\nAnd here it is, you can observe that\nthree options, rows, column, and values.\nSo, I can add a values in this format.\nWhereas if I just add a table, only the\nvalues column will be there, huh? Values\noption will be there.\nSo, I just drop a countries in a row.\nOkay? And profit in a values. When I\ndrop it, so you can see that countries\nand profit, the values are showing in a\nform of the two separate column,\ncountries and sum of the profit. Because\nin a values I just drop the profit.\nOkay? I just zoom it.\nAnd I just drag this one.\nOkay? Now, I want to show the sparklines\nwith respect to the\ntrend of the profit. Okay? The trend of\nthe profit is there. And I want to show\nthe sparklines. Okay?\nRemember that if you draw the any type\nof the graph, the visualization required\na x-axis and y-axis.\nBut when I just draw the sparklines\nhere, so he just represent the pattern\nof this series of the value in a y. But\nthere is no x-axis value. Which means\nthat by itself Excel uh choose the\nx-axis value. Okay? And after that, this\nseries of the values represent in a\ny-axis.\nBut in Power BI,\nthere is a requirement to choose a\nx-axis as well with respect to the\nprofit column which is represented in a\ny-axis. Okay? So, how I can add a\nsparkline here? So, I just go to the sum\nof profit, which mean profit column. And\nI just right click on it. When I right\nclick, so at the top you can see that\nadd a sparkline here, huh? I just click\non it. When I click, so it will\nrepresent that you are going to add a\nsparklines using a profit. And the\nsummarization is selected sum here. You\ncan change it as well. Average, minimum,\nmaximum, and other thing. I will remain\nit sum.\nOkay? What is the column of the x-axis?\nI just click. You can add here a majors.\nYou can add any number of the column\nhere uh from the table. So, I have only\nthe financial data. So, I am going to\nchoose here a unit sold column. Okay?\nAdd calculation group to\nwhich type of the calculation group do\nIndividual or the entire? So, individual\nvalues or the entire sparklines? I just\nclick on the entire sparklines. Okay?\nThe entire columns I am going to use.\nOkay? I will change it as well, huh?\nSo, I just click create. When I click\ncreate, the sparklines column is going\nto added here. Here we go.\nYou can see that. And it is represent\nthe trend in a column of profit and unit\nsold. Okay? So, it represent. By the\nway, I can change the line chart into a\ncolumn chart as well. Look at here.\nI just zoom out.\nGo to the properties.\nAnd under the properties of this matrix,\ngo down. And there is a sparklines\noption. Click on it.\nI just show you\nthe zoom option. There is a line. You\ncan change the color by the way. I just\nchange it into the black. Black\nchanging. You can increase the width as\nwell, huh?\nYou can see that it is a more darker or\nthicker.\nSo, two will be the good one.\nAlso, I can change line chart into the\ncolumn chart. But before it, there is a\nmarker option as well, huh, in the line\nchart. So, I can just represent my data\ninto the marked way. Every point,\nall points are you can see that\nrepresent in a circle form. Okay? You\ncan change the color. Circle change\nmaybe change into a a fill triangle.\nOkay? A diamond shapes, a circle, cross,\ndash, plus sign, and so on. And you can\nalso increase the size.\nBut I'm going to change the I'm going to\nchange the\nline chart into a column from the same\nsparkline option. I just click column.\nAnd you can see that data is represented\nin a column wise as well.\nSo, this is the shortest and very\neasiest way to add a sparkline with\nrespect to the column and row. Which\ncolumn and row you are going to choose\nto represent your data in a tiny graph\nvisualization. Okay?\nSo, if I just make it more robust, so I\ncan add a one more column in a value.\nAnd after that, your value will be\ndistributed. And then with respect to\nthe distributed value, it also represent\nthe graph. Okay? What's the What does it\nmean? Okay? I just zoom out.\nYou can see that this time my sparkline\nshowing uh by profit and unit sold. But\nif I just drop the year column, because\nuh remember that in a year, there is two\nyear values, 13 and 14. 2013 and 14\nvalues are there. I just drop the year\nin a add column.\nAnd when I add, you can see that the sum\nof the values are represented here, huh,\nin a form of the year.\nBut if I just drop this year of\nsum of the year in a column,\nyou can see that when I just drop into a\ncolumn, which means that I need a\ncolumns. So, when I drop the columns,\nthis year value 13 and 14 is divided\ninto a two part. Why?\nBecause there is a distinct value 13 and\n14 on it in a column. So, 13 values will\nbe here. 14 value will be here.\nSo, sum of the profit it's characterized\ndivided into a two part, 13 and 14. And\nnot only this thing, the sparklines of\nthe profit is going to use three time.\nOne for the 13, one for the 14, and the\nlast one is used for the total as well.\nOkay? You can also use for the total.\nLook at here. That is a total one.\nBecause uh in aggregation, always rows\nand columns show the sum of the values\nas well. If you want to not use this\none, you can disable this one. But I'm\njust showing that if I just drop the\nvalues in a column, the sparklines is\ngoing to divide with respect to that\ncolumn. Okay?\nSo, there is a properties option. I just\nuh need no uh column subtotal, no row\nsubtotal. That's why I just show you.\nYou can disable this one. So, I just\ndisable the\nrow sum and column sum. And here it is\nmy values of the sparklines with respect\nto the uh year column of 13 and 14.\nOkay? By the way, you can also apply the\nuh blank rows options, so it will uh\nmake your visualization more in a better\nway. Okay? That's why I just blank rows\nadd by the white color. You can change\nit into a gray one as well. Okay? Uh or\nalready a gray is there, so I just\nchoose a white one. Okay? The grid\noption is there. Uh horizontal grid. If\nyou want to visualize it into a more\nthicker, so you can use it by the color\nlike this.\nOkay?\nSo, you can see that your graph is look\nlike a very smart in a visualization.\nOkay?\nSo,\noptions are there. You can also apply\nthe column header, row header if you\nwant uh okay?\nUh the sparklines option. That's all\nabout the sparklines, by the way. Uh we\nhow we can add the sparklines, how we\ncan visualize it, uh how we can make our\nmatrix in a good way. Okay? Table matrix\nis ready.
